Hair loss is a common ailment nowadays. Many people suffer from hair loss or at least a receding hairline. These problems, although taken lightly by many, is a very serious problem for most individuals. Loss of hair, or a receding hairline, is considered as an unhealthy or abnormal sign by many people and is therefore the cause of many emotional and psychological problems in many people.
The problem of receding hairline or hair loss might be an age old phenomenon and a problem plaguing mankind since time immemorial, but society has not yet adapted to the problem and hasn’t accepted it as a normal phenomenon still. People suffering from hair loss often find themselves being targeted by sarcastic peers, or even seniors and colleagues, and are incessantly commented upon and joked about. This might lead to severe psychological repercussions in the individual.
Although society has ill elements that mock and make a big issue of hair loss, there are still many people who do not make mockery of the phenomenon. It is human tendency to mock something which is unusual or different. The individual should be confident in self and should always maintain his confidence even under mockery or criticism. It is a simple fact that the amount of hair, the loss of the same or a receding hairline are not yardsticks to determine individual worth but are actually trivial matters which are given importance only by oneself.
Scientists agree that people who are indifferent of the social implications of hair loss lead better lives and respond better to hair loss treatment than those who are intimidated by society and develop an inferiority complex because of the same. It is of utmost importance for the individual to understand that hair loss is a disorder like any other and can be cured following the proper diagnostic and healing procedures. It should not be a source of shame or discomfort and one should not feel it to be so.
Also, as being members of the society, all people should show tolerance towards people suffering from hair loss or similar disorders. Mockery and sarcasm, although helpful in bringing momentary and morbid pleasure, might prove to be quite harmful for others in the long run. One should understand that they are responsible for their actions and should avoid harm to others that comes as a result of their own actions, thus choosing their actions and words carefully.
